Infant massage is such a great resource for parents. It can improve sleep quality, weight gain, muscle development, and child-parent attachment, as well as decrease colic, growing and teething pain and so much more. Despite infant massage being so great for babies, toddlers and children of all ages, there aren’t many noteworthy infant massage apps on the market. However, here’s what we’ve found:

Baby Bliss: Massage and Reflexes

This app gives instructional images and videos to help you learn about infant massage and acupressure points. Instructions are from acupressure therapist, Katrine Birk. It is available in English and Danish. Reviews online were limited however, you can choose to buy by ailment for $3.99 or  the full version for $11.99.

Baby Massage Basics

Baby Massage Basics was created as a sort of “how to” manual for parents. It’s design appears to be simple but provides a good read for parents interested in baby massage. Dr.Elaine Fogel Schneider, author of Massaging Your Baby - The Joy of TouchTime - Effective Techniques for a Healthier, Happier, More Relaxes Child & Parent is behind the app.

Kinedu

Kinedu provides expert developmental guidance for parents through science-based activities. One activity they offer is infant massage classes.

Storybook: Massage and Stories

Although we might be biased, Storybook is by far the best infant massage app on the market. The app not only offers infant massage and reflexology techniques but bedtime stories, poems and music to accompany your little one’s massage. The app further offers guided meditation and baby white noise. While the app is continually being improved, it boasts cute but attractive and informative animations to guide your child’s massage. Furthermore, Storybook has an information blog and social media platforms that offers interesting topics for parents.

Although there remain few apps for infant massage, it is a great activity to work into your daily or bedtime routine. The benefits are almost endless. So, try out Storybook and other infant massage apps to help your child get the leg up on growing up.{{cta('04f7e245-6c89-4066-9bfb-38c273f83d4e','justifycenter')}}
